What the free tier actually allows
- For individual, non-commercial use only.
- Share and receive up to 3 GB a month.
- 10 transfers a month.
- Transfers expire within 3 days at most.
What the pricing page does not say
- The free plan is for non-commercial use only. The page recommends a paid plan for business or professional work.
- Starter and Ultimate are for individual use only. Adding team members needs Teams, which has a minimum of 2 users.
- Monthly billing costs more: Ultimate and Teams are $25 instead of $19 (32% more) and Starter is $10 instead of $7 (43% more).
- Every account can store up to 2TB regardless of plan. At the limit, no new transfers can be sent or received until older ones are deleted.
- Subscriptions renew automatically. Cancelling keeps the plan until the end of the paid period.
- Teams stops at 50 members. More than 50 needs Enterprise, which has no published price.
What a team pays for WeTransfer
WeTransfer cost for 1, 5 and 20 people, worked from the published rates. Ultimate and Starter are for individual use, so teams are worked on Teams, which is priced per user with a minimum of 2 users. Each figure is users x rate x 12 months.

Free is for individual, non-commercial use, with up to 3 GB a month, 10 transfers a month and transfers that expire within 3 days. Starter raises sharing to 300 GB a month for one person. Ultimate removes the limits on transfer size, transfer count and expiry, and adds custom branding per transfer, automatic malware scanning and recovery of expired transfers. Teams adds team creation for up to 50 members and centralized billing. Enterprise is for 50 or more members, with SSO, usage and security logs and end-to-end encryption, at a custom price.
Billing details
The page has a Monthly and Yearly switch. Yearly billing is 24% below monthly on Ultimate and Teams ($25 to $19) and 30% below monthly on Starter ($10 to $7). The FAQ says subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled any time from Account Settings, with the plan running to the end of the paid period before the account returns to Free. Every account can store up to 2TB regardless of plan.
