Which one is for you
Pick monday CRM if the team is 3 or more people who want the CRM on monday's boards, with Basic at $12 per seat per month billed yearly and a 14-day trial first.
Pick HubSpot if 1 or 2 people can work inside the free tools, or if the team qualifies for the new-customer Starter rate of $7 per seat per month paid annually.
What monday CRM's pricing page does not say
- Plans start from 3 users according to the FAQ, and the team size selector starts at 3 seats, so one person pays for 3 seats: 3 x $12 = $36 a month on Basic billed yearly.
- Seats are picked from a list (3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 100 or 200+), so a team between two sizes selects from those options. The FAQ says teams of more than 40 users can request a quote from sales.
- Monthly billing costs 46% to 50% more per seat than yearly: $18 against $12 on Basic, $25 against $17 on Standard and $41 against $28 on Pro.
- A yearly plan is paid in one upfront installment for the whole year, according to the FAQ.
- Basic is capped at 1,000 active contacts and deals and 5 columns per board, and lists no custom automations. The 250 custom automations a month start on Standard.
- The page states the yearly discount two ways: the billing switch reads SAVE 33%, while one FAQ answer says the yearly plan gives an 18% discount. The listed prices match the switch.
- Prices do not include tax, and the page says the price is determined by the billing country, with the final price shown on the purchase page.
What HubSpot's pricing page does not say
- The Starter prices of $7 and $10 per seat per month are an offer. The page banner says new customers only and select offers available for a limited time, and a struck-through $20/mo/seat sits beside both figures. The page does not say what an existing customer pays.
- Pay Monthly does not mean the same thing on each plan. On Starter it is labeled Commit monthly. On Smart CRM Professional it is labeled Commit annually, so the $50 per seat is paid monthly inside an annual commitment.
- Starter, Professional and Enterprise prices are labeled Starts at. Neither page says what raises the price above that figure.
- The step from Starter to Professional is large: $7 per seat per month against $45 per seat per month, both paid annually. Teams, custom reporting and duplicate management are listed from Professional.
- Smart CRM Enterprise has no Buy now button, only Talk to Sales, and its card has no billing period control.
- The Free plan stops at 2 users. A third user means a paid plan, and paid plans are charged per seat.
- Starter includes 1,000 marketing contacts and 500 HubSpot Credits. The price of more contacts or more credits is not on either page.
monday CRM vs HubSpot free plan
HubSpot's free tools are $0 for up to 2 users, with no credit card, and carry HubSpot branding on email and chat. monday CRM has no free plan: its FAQ names a 14-day trial, after which a paid plan is needed.
monday CRM 3 seat minimum
monday CRM plans start from 3 users, and the team size selector begins at 3 seats. One person on Basic still pays for 3 seats. HubSpot charges per seat from the first paid seat.
What a team of 1, 5 and 20 pays
| Team | monday CRM Basic, yearly | HubSpot |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 x $12 (3 seat minimum) | Free, $0 |
| 5 | 5 x $12 | Starter, 5 x $7 (offer) |
| 20 | 20 x $12 | Starter, 20 x $7 (offer) |
On monthly billing the monday CRM Basic rate is $18 per seat and the HubSpot Starter rate is $10 per seat. The worked totals are in each file.
