Notion is a workspace for docs, wikis, databases and projects. It bills per member per month, with a 20% premium for paying monthly instead of yearly.
The short answer. Notion pricing starts with a free plan. Paid plans start at $10 per member per month billed annually ($12 billed monthly) for Plus, and Business is $20 per member per month billed annually ($24 monthly). What the free tier actually allows
- A single person gets unlimited pages and blocks on the Free plan.
- With 2 or more members, the Free plan allows a limited number of blocks. The page does not say how many. At the limit, existing content can still be read and edited, but no new blocks can be added.
- File uploads are capped at 5 MB, page history is 7 days, and up to 10 external guests can be invited.
- Notion AI features (Notion Agent, meeting notes, Enterprise Search) are a limited trial on Free.
- Students and educators can get the Plus plan free, with a 1-member limit, by signing up with a school email address.
What the pricing page does not say
- Notion's AI features are only a limited trial on Free and Plus. Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search are included in full from Business, at $20 per member per month billed annually.
- Custom Agents are billed on top of the plan: the page says they are free to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits.
- Every member of the workspace is a paid seat. At renewal the bill is the plan price multiplied by the number of members, and a seat added mid-cycle is kept for the rest of the billing period.
- Custom domains for published sites are listed as pay per domain on every paid plan, with no price on the pricing page.
- The Free plan's block limit for workspaces with 2 or more members is not stated as a number.

- One person: Free covers unlimited pages and blocks, with a 5 MB upload cap and 7 days of page history.
- A small team sharing a workspace: Free limits blocks once there are 2 or more members, so most shared workspaces need Plus.
- Teams that want Notion AI or SSO: Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search and SAML SSO start at Business. On Free and Plus the AI features are a limited trial.
- Organizations needing SCIM provisioning or an audit log: Enterprise, priced through sales.
Billing details
The page offers a Pay monthly and Pay yearly switch and advertises savings of up to 20% with yearly billing. On the published figures, monthly billing costs 20% more than annual on both paid plans ($12 against $10, and $24 against $20). Put the other way, yearly billing is 16.7% below the monthly rate.
Seats follow members: at each renewal Notion charges the plan amount multiplied by the number of members, plus prorated charges for seats added in the past month. A seat added during a billing period is kept until that period ends. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
