What the free tier actually allows
- The Personal plan is $0 and the page calls it free forever.
- It is limited to 2 users.
- It includes unlimited tasks and projects, list, board and calendar views, status updates and 100+ free integrations.
- Storage is unlimited but each file is capped at 100MB.
- Timeline and Gantt views, reporting dashboards, automations, forms, custom fields and the Asana AI allowances start on Starter.
What the pricing page does not say
- The free plan stops at 2 users. A third person means Starter, at $10.99 per user per month billed annually for every user.
- Paying monthly costs 23% more on Starter ($13.49 against $10.99) and 22% more on Advanced ($30.49 against $24.99).
- AI is metered. Starter and Advanced include 5 AI Teammates and Asana Dash requests per user per month, capped at 50 per account. Beyond that, requests cost $0.50 each prepaid or $0.60 each on demand.
- Goals, portfolios, time tracking and approvals are on Advanced, which costs more than twice the Starter rate ($24.99 against $10.99 per user per month billed annually).
- SAML authentication and SCIM user provisioning are on Enterprise, which has no published price.
- The Timesheets and Budgets, Compliance management and Permissions management add-ons are billed separately, are available only on Enterprise, and show no price.

One or two people pay nothing on the Personal plan. A team of 20 on Starter pays $600 more a year month to month ($3,237.60) than on annual billing ($2,637.60).
Which plan fits which team
Personal covers one or two people with list, board and calendar views. Starter removes the seat limit and is the first plan with timeline and Gantt views, reporting dashboards, forms, custom fields and unlimited automations. Advanced is the first plan with goals, unlimited portfolios, resource management, time tracking and approvals. Enterprise adds SAML authentication, SCIM provisioning and view-only licenses, with pricing through sales.
Billing details
The page has a Monthly and Yearly switch and states a saving of up to 18%. The published rates bear that out: annual billing is 18.5% below the monthly rate on Starter ($13.49 to $10.99) and 18.0% below it on Advanced ($30.49 to $24.99).
AI usage is the cost outside the seat price. Each paid plan includes 5 requests per user per month, capped per account. Past the cap, 100 extra requests cost 100 x $0.50 = $50 in a prepaid pack or 100 x $0.60 = $60 on demand. Add-ons such as Timesheets and Budgets are billed separately and are listed for Enterprise only.
