Paying monthly costs 20 to 43 percent more
On the plans above: ClickUp Unlimited 43% more month to month, Smartsheet Pro and monday.com Basic 33%, Asana Starter 23%, Notion Plus and Trello Standard 20%. On ClickUp's Business plan the gap is 58%, $19 against $12.
Before paying anything: the free plans at 10 people
- Trello: the Free plan covers up to 10 collaborators per Workspace, with up to 10 boards. A team of exactly 10 fits; an 11th collaborator does not.
- ClickUp: Free Forever allows unlimited members, but storage is capped at 60MB in total.
- Notion: free for one person; with 2 or more members the number of blocks is limited, and the page does not say to how many.
- Asana and monday.com: the free plans stop at 2 users and 2 seats.
- Smartsheet: no free plan, a 30 day trial.
Where the team size starts to matter
- Smartsheet Pro stops at 10 Members. An 11th means Business, at $19 per Member a month billed yearly, which also needs at least 3 Members.
- monday.com sells seats in fixed team sizes: 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 and up. At 10 seats the total equals seats times rate; at 20 seats the totals on the page are higher than that.
- Asana's AI is metered beyond the included allowance, at $0.50 a request prepaid or $0.60 on demand.
